we have a walnut tree in our backyard that is the bane of our dorm's existence. it is huge, and it drops walnuts like seagulls drop poo on unsuspecting beach-goers all summer in ocean city. our backyard is littered with nuts, some of which are still in their decaying fruit shells. today, we went out to try to pick them up- an endless task, to be sure. after my thighs began burning from squatting down to pick them up, i decided to rake leaves instead. and it was glorious. it was a perfect fall day today, sunny and warm enough that the activity of raking had me stripped down to a tank top. my feet were all mucky in my flip-flops from recent rain in the yard, but that didn't bother me. i only wished the leaves weren't so wet so i could jump in them. i came in and ate a yummy dinner and then made lattes for all of my girls.
if you like walnuts and you are in germany any time soon, stop on by. we've got extras.

NICE. I love fall too. When life gives you walnuts, rake leaves and make lattes. I think that would make a nice life-motto or something.
Oh yes, the walnuts. My parents have a walnut tree but it's at the end of the driveway, far from the house, so it just isn't the same. Fall is being beautiful here too, but it's just now starting to happen. In a few weeks the trees will be resplendent, but now... not yet.
Wait -- you had a "yummy dinner" on a Tuesday? Does this speak well of cafeteria dinners this year?!
